Philip Myers (b. 1949,
Elkhart, Indiana ) is a noted American horn player. Myers plays a F/B-flat/f alto Engelbert SchmidTriple Horn . He currently owns five horns, down from a high at one time of 17. He formerly used aSilver Conn 8DDouble Horn .He has served as principal horn with the
New York Philharmonic since 1980 and has frequently appeared as soloist with the orchestra.Philip Myers studied at
Carnegie Mellon University , earning his undergraduate and master's degrees inMusic Performance. Before arriving at the New York Philharmonic, Mr. Myers was principal horn of the Atlantic Symphony, Halifax,Nova Scotia , 1971-1974, third horn with thePittsburgh Symphony Orchestra from 1974 - 1977, and principal horn of theMinnesota Orchestra from 1978 - 1980. He is currently a faculty member atMannes College The New School for Music in New York City.Mr. Myers released his first solo
