Captain Star Johnson

Captain Star Johnson is a secondary league character on "Duck Dodgers". He is a space captain for the Galactic Protectorate, and is voiced by John O'Hurley.

Character

Star Johnson is a highly decorated space captain and the rival of Duck Dodgers, and was first seen in "The Trial of Duck Dodgers", as the Captain who brought Dodgers to trial over Dodgers' incompetence. The case was, however, dismissed.

Star later appears flirting with another female officer called Tina in "The Green Loontern", and despite his rivalry with Dodgers, teams up with him during General Z9s' coup of Planet Mars, and again when competing with Dodgers in the Captain of the Year award in "The Best of Captains, the Worst of Captains" (Although neither won, they did both beat rival captain, Captain Dallas Rodman).

Personality

Johnson himself is ideally more competent than Duck Dodgers, investigating General Z9 before anyone else became suspicious. Johnson was also the first captain Dr. I.Q. Hi chose to investigate Dodgers' disappearance during a gangster investigation. It was also Johnson who tried to barricade Protectorate HQ during "The Fudd" to protect his fellow crewmen.

Star seems to enjoy mocking his fellow officers, and even in "The Best of Captains, the Worst of Captains", he fires on another spaceship that has "parked" in his spot. As shown in "Invictus Interruptus", he is also incredibly egotistic, taking all credit for destroying the Martian "Invictus" without mentioning the actions of his crew or the sacrifice of Duck Dodgers.

Star Johnson seems to be based largely on Flash Gordon, with some anti-hero elements. His rivalry with Dodgers echoes the rivalry between Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon (The latter being King Features Syndicates' answer to the former).
