Japan ese publisher. Most significantly, he was founder andeponym of Charles E. Tuttle Company, nowTuttle Publishing .Tuttle founded his publishing company in 1948, with offices in
Tokyo and Rutland, Vermont, and with a mission to publish "books to span the East and West." From the early 1950s onward the company published many books on theJapanese language , arts, and culture, as well as translations of Japanese works into the English language.
