Although Louis Carey is a self-proclaimed
Bristol Rovers supporter, he came up through the ranks atBristol City made his City debut in October 1995 and was a regular in the first team both as a right back and centre back for 9 seasons, and was part of the side which won promotion to the Championship in 1997/1998. He signed a four year deal in July 2000, but when that expired he rejected a new contract offer from Bristol City which allowed Coventry City to sign him on a free transfer.Coventry City
Carey spent 6 months at Highfield Road under

Carey signed a 2 and a half year deal in January 2005, and has been a regular in the side ever since. Carey was made Bristol City captain after the imprisonment of
Steve Brooker and has held on to the position ever since. He won his second promotion in 2006/2007 asBristol City finished second in League One and then signed a new two year contract in July 2007.Carey is known for his consistent and commanding performances in central defence, but also scored the winning goal against Swansea City and twice against Gillingham in 2006.
