Washington High School is the local public high school in Washington, Iowa. It is a member of the Washington Community School district. Washington High School has long been a strong leader in high school athletics, having made it to state championships in multiple sports. The arts programs are very strong at Washington, with vibrant vocal and instrumental music programs. The school's yearbook and newspaper are also remarkable, with numerous students winning awards almost every year. Additionally, there are opportunities for students to develop organizational leadership and service skills through agriculture organizations (including FFA), service clubs and volunteer organizations,campaign/advocacy groups, drama, speech, science clubs, and the list goes on, and on, and on, and on.

Some interesting facts about Washington High School are that the building used to also serve as a local college in its earliest days and that many of its teachers have taught at the public learning institution for decades.
