Tarpanam

Tarpanam

Tarpanam refers to the offerings made to an individual's ancestors according to the method prescribed by the vedas. This is performed by religious Hindus in honour of their ancestors. It is believed that such offerings can make the dead ancestors happy and help the offering individuals lead their future lives in peace. Tarpanams ar performed periodically and on specific days such as during amavasya (No moon day), eclipses etc.
