Yu Heaon-jong (b. February 25 1939 [According to Lee (1996, p. 545). This is given as 1940 by the [http://100.naver.com/100.nhn?docid=769959 Naver Encyclopedia] .] ) is a South Korean novelist known for the writing of dramatic historical fiction. He was born in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, to a family of the Gangneung Yu lineage. He graduated from Sorabol Arts College with a degree in creative writing. He emerged on the literary stage when his short story "This Insignificant Stone" received an award from the literary magazine "Jayu Munhak".
