VH1 Europe is a music television channel from
MTV Networks Europe, based on the American Channel of the same name.
This version of VH1 is very different from its American counterpart as it has never ceased to be a proper music channel, playing a wide variety of music programs on a daily or weekly basis, for a total of about 23 hours of music videos being shown every day.
In February 2008 it received a major makeover in its timeslot programming adding specialist shows containing selections of music videos linked by common themes (VH1 Themed, Smells Like The 90s, VH1 Pop Chart, Boogie Night, Flipside, Chill Out, So 80s, Viva La Disco, Sunday Soul, VH1 New, VH1 Rocks, Top 10, Final Countdown, Celebrity Showdown, Then & Now, VH1 Classic, Smooth Wake Up, Saturday Night Fever, Best Of Charts, Greatest Hits, Aerobic, Espresso, VH1 Oldschool...).
During the only daily hour of non-music programming, several shows from VH1 US or MTV US can be found, including documentaries (The Fabulous Life Of...', 'The Rise and Rise Of...', Behind The Music, Making The Video) and classic episodes of MTV series such as Beavis & Butt-head and The Osbournes.
For one hour each day, the channel plays selections of videos submitted by viewers via the channel's website on a show called 'VH1 Juxebox'.
VH1 Europe broadcasts from London to the whole continent of Europe, the Middle East, South Africa and parts of Northern Africa. It is available almost in every digital platform in Europe.
In Italy, the pan-European version of VH1 has been officially available only since October 1st 2007 through
SKY Italia's satellite platform, as well as on other platforms such as Alice Home TVIPTV service.
Vh1 Classic Europe
VH1 Classic Europe is also available to viewers all over Europe and is, at present, entirely devoid of advertisements, with round-the-clock music videos. Regular shows include "The 80's at 8" and "The 90's at 9" in the morning, and "The Rock Show" airing every night at 10pm CET.
