Robert Lawrence Gernon (
July 29 ,1943 –March 30 ,2005 ) was born in Sabetha,Nemaha County, Kansas .He was a 1966 KU B-School major who studied law at
Washburn University inTopeka, Kansas graduating in 1969.Within ten years he became a district judge in Kansas 22nd District. (1979-88).
Bob was also trial advocacy instructor at
University of Kansas School of Law . His performance earned him appointments as a judge on theKansas Court of Appeals , 1988-2003; and,Kansas Supreme Court Justice, 2003-2005.Justice Gernon became a persistent community stewardship leader with a passion for ethical leadership practices. He also served as a coach, mentor and
tutor toSigma Nu fraternity chapter members inLawrence, Kansas .Bob championed the LEAD program. It remains unique among all collegiate Greek-letter organizations. It served as a framework for ongoing "Emily Taylor Women's Resource Center" (ETWRC)
