Movement of restoration of Democracy

Movement of restoration of Democracy

Movement for the restoration of democracy was an alliance of opposition parties formed in 1982 in Pakistan. The movement did not prove to be a force, as the constituent parties were disunited due to a deep suspicion between Benazir Bhutto and parties that had, in effect, opposed her father. A movement was indeed launched with many violent protests and loss of civilian lives, but it was unsuccessful. One casualty was the National Democratic Party, where Wali Khan did not support MRD and clashed with his friend Sherbaz Khan Mazari. The movement abated and then died a gradual death by 1984.
