Linda McAvan

Linda McAvan

Linda McAvan (born 2 December 1962, Bradford, West Yorkshire) is a Member of the European Parliament for the Labour Party for Yorkshire and the Humber. She has been a member of the European Parliament since 1998, and was first elected in a by-election following the resignation of Norman West.

Before being elected she worked for Barnsley Borough Council and was the European Officer for the Coalfields Community Campaign.

Since June 2007 she has served as Vice President of the European Parliament's Socialist Group, is a member of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly and currently sits on the Temporary Committee on Climate Change.
