Route Details

Route 4012 start at Ban Tha Pae, exactly the point Route 401 ends. It run southward to Nakhon Si Thammarat Town. It is 4-lane asphalt, 2 in each direction separated by a median.

Originally, the route passed through Fort Vachirawut. This caused inconvenience because in nighttime only vehicle with permission card could use the route. Vehicle without permission must use route 4016 and 4103 to avoid Fort Vachirawut.

Thus finally a new 4012 was constructed about 1 km to the east of Fort Vachirawut. The new route allows 24-hour access for any vehicle. The new route is usually know to locals as "Thanon Om Kai" (Fort-devious Road).
