Kokichi Tsuburaya

nihongo|Kokichi Tsuburaya|円谷 幸吉|Tsuburaya Kōkichi (May 13, 1940January 9, 1968) was a Japanese athlete who competed mainly in the Marathon.

He was the 3rd lieutenant of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.

He competed for Japan in the 1964 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan in the Marathon where he won the bronze medal.

On January 9, 1968, he committed suicide by cutting his external carotid artery. After the Tokyo Olympic, he suffered from lumbago. He wrote in his suicide note, "I cannot run by having already gotten exhausted".
