- Juan Carlos Vega
Juan Carlos Vega-Martinez, M.Ed. (b. 1973 in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico) lives in Caguas, PR. He is currently studying a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Education at Boston University and possesses a Master of Education degree with a Major in Music Education of Cambridge College in Cambridge, MA. Vega received his Bachelor Degree in Music Education (summa cum laude) at the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory in San Juan and achieved the Piano Performance Certificate in Pop Piano from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
Vega is the piano-keyboard player of the Symphonic State Band of Puerto Rico and has played with the following Latin artists: Wilkins- music director, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Lissette, Isabel Pantoja, Ednita Nazario, Lourdes Robles, Yolandita Monge, Noelia, Olga Tañon, Sophy, Luis Fonsi, H2O, Danny Rivera; Orch. Mandy Vizoso, Cucco Peña, Elías Lopés, Ito Serrano, Pedro Rivera Toledo; Jerry Rivera, Elvis Crespo, Millie Corretjer, Nydia Caro, Paseo, Tito Nieves, Pedro Guzmán-Jíbaro Jazz, Los Hispanos, Quique Domenech, Victor Manuelle, Cheo Feliciano, Ricardo Montaner, Marcos Llunas; Music Director of “En Versos de Mujer” with Cordelia González, Angélica Aragón, Soledad Bravo; among many others.
In the educational field his successful teaching experiences include: Cambridge College - Adjunct Instructor of Music Education PR Center / Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola in San Juan PR - Choral & Band Director, Creator & Founder of the Music School Program / Inter American University of Puerto Rico - Piano Professor, Theory & Solfege and Choral Ensemble at the Popular Music Program / Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music - Theory & Solfege & Piano Professor / Josefita Monserrate de Sellés Elementary School in San Juan, PR - General Music, Theory & Solfege, Choral Director and as the Director of the Music Program.
Vega has also participated as the Choral Director, Piano-Keyboards & Assistant Director of Cucco Peña in the musical "Jesus Christ Superstar" (1998) and as the piano player of the musical "Chicago" (2003). He is the Executive Producer of the Jazz Nights @ SJ Marriott as a partner A-Z Music Corp, the Associate Director of the specialized Summer Camp “Verano Musical”, the Author of the Book “Breve Historia de la Música en Puerto Rico” (2001) and the Executive Producer & Music Director of “Popssical” - Classical goes to Latin (2005).
