UbiSec&Sens

UbiSec&Sens stands for Ubiquitous Security and Sensing in the European Homeland. It is a European project aiming at providing security for medium and large scale Wireless Sensor Networks and runs between 2006 and 2008. UbiSec&Sens is a Specific Target Research Project (STReP) in the thematic priority 'Towards a global dependability and security framework' of the EU Framework Programme 6 for Research and Development.

Project Overview

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN)s are an exciting development with very large potential to have a significant beneficial impact on every aspect of our lives while generating huge opportunities for European industry. What is needed to kick off the development and exploitation of WSNs is an architecture for medium and large scale wireless sensor networks integrating comprehensive security capabilities right from the concept stage. One of the major goals of UbiSec&Sens is to provide a security toolbox for securing WSNs. Practically, it entails to build up a set of modular TinyOS components, which put together would supply the desired level of security to the WSN user. This ambitious architecture coupled with a dynamic code update offers the WSN owner a wide range of options for setting up the security trade-offs of its WSN applications.

Project Partners

The project brings together 8 partners from different European countries, of which 7 are technical.
