The Ephriam M. Baynard House is a historic home in Auburndale, Florida, located at 208 West Lake Avenue. On November 10, 2001, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and houses the Baynard House Museum.

The Architect was Alfred Chipman Thorp, [ [http://www.nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com/FL/Polk/state.html National Register of Historic Places: Polk County, Florida-Baynard, Ephriam M., House] ] and Baynard's home was designed and built in the Folk Victorian style. It is a good example of the gable front and wing subtype of residence that was common in the southern states during the late nineteenth century. The building is owned and operated by the City of Auburndale and has been restored to its original design.

Namesake

Ephriam Mikell Baynard, born in 1860, settled in Auburndale in the 1880s during the Post-Reconstruction era. Baynard became a landowner, cattle rancher, farmer, financier, real estate developer and owned several downtown buildings. He built two residences in Auburndale. The first was constructed in 1894 and is known as the Baynard House. The second was built in 1913 and is presently a funeral home. Ephriam Mikell Baynard died in 1933.

Baynard was designated a Great Floridian by the Florida Department of State in the "Great Floridians 2000 Program". A plaque attesting to the honor is located at the Baynard House.
