Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing is a private non-profit graduate school located in Hyden, Kentucky. The Leslie County school was started by the Frontier Nursing Service in 1939. In 1989, it became the first midwifery school to offer distance education. The school's mission is to "provide a high quality education that prepares nurses to become competent, entrepreneurial, ethical and compassionate nurse-midwives and nurse practitioners who will provide primary care for women and families residing in all areas with a focus on rural and medically underserved populations."
