Trivia

* This would be the third of four K-1 WGPs won by Ernesto "Mr. Perfect" Hoost. As of 2006 this is the most by any K-1 fighter.
* The three wins Ernesto Hoost won in the '99 WGP would mark the beginning of a 7 win fight streak during the WGP (it would continue on through the 2000 and 2001 WGPs). As of 2006 only one other person holds this record, 2003 and 2004 WGP champion Remy Bonjasky.
