Chacraseca

Chacraseca is a town in Nicaragua. There are about 8,000 people who live in the town, and over the past 18 years, the people in the town have been receiving aid from several groups in the United States. These groups include international organizations such as American Nicaraguan Foundation and Food for the Poor, as well as Students for 60,000, which is a non-profit organization that tries to help people that are less fortunate, and students from James Madison University, Binghamton University, Bard College, University of Florida, University of Central Florida, Stonehill College, and Miami Dade College. They also receive aid from the HOLA (Health Outreach for Latin America) Foundation (www.holafoundation.org), a NPO based in Boulder, CO which travels to Chacraseca every March to provide free medical aid and is dedicated to bringing sustainable health care solutions to underprivileged people throughout Latin America, and The United Church of the Valley in Murrieta, California. The UCC Community of Hope (www.cohope.com) in Tulsa, OK also travels each year as a mission and usually builds one small home for a family while journeying with the people of Chacraseca.

Chacraseca is located outside of the city of Leon, and has a very well developed elementary school system. The Comedor Escolar Project, is running well in the town, and children are able to receive education due to the help of groups such as Students for 60,000.
