WHVL-LP serves as the MyNetworkTV affiliate for the DMA, and is the first commercial television station to broadcast out of State College. The station is owned by Channel Communications, and broadcasts on UHF channel 29, with no current digital signal. The station recently took delivery of their Ch. 27 antenna, with the hopes of broadcasting DTV by the end of September/middle of October 2008. Their call letters stand for “Happy VaLley,” a nickname for State College.

Local Programming

WHVL launched on August 31, 2007 with live coverage of the Penn State “Football Eve” pep rally. It has aired several local productions, including the Penn State Tailgate Show which aired pre- and post-game analysis for each Penn State football game during the fall of 2007 and featured hosts Jed Donahue, Kenny Jackson, Blair Thomas and Joanie Plake outside Beaver Stadium. It also aired the Penn State University vs. Lock Haven University wrestling match on February 23, 2008.

Current Programming

WHVL airs MyNetworkTV programming Monday through Saturday from 8-10pm. Throughout the day, it airs many first-run and off-network syndicated shows, including:

*The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet

WHVL is also airing Phillies baseball for the 2008 season.
