James H. "Jim" McGee (
November 8 ,1918 –March 4 ,2006 ) was an American politician of theOhio Democratic party.McGee was born in
West Virginia and attendedWilberforce University . After serving in theUnited States Army , he received alaw degree fromOhio State University . McGee, a member of theNAACP , was involved as a lawyer in severalcivil rights cases in the 1960s. He served as a city commissioner and mayor ofDayton, Ohio . He was the firstAfrican-American mayor of Dayton and its longest-tenured mayor to date. [cite web
