deli andrestaurant inNew York City , formerly located in the middle ofTimes Square at 1626 Broadway. Lindy's midtown locations are 825 7th Avenue (at 53rd Street) and 401 7th Avenue (at 32nd Street). The deli is owned by Riesse Industries and known for itscheesecake .History
Lindy's was opened by Leo "Lindy" Lindermann (died 1957,
Parkinson's disease ) and his wife Clara onAugust 20 ,1921 . A second location was added at 1655 Broadway.Damon Runyon was a big fan and wrote the restaurant into his books as "Mindy's." The musical "Guys and Dolls " is based on Runyon's writings, and Lindy's is immortalized in one of the play's songs.
