James Westfall

James Westfall

James Westfall is a jazz vibraphonist born in Houston, Texas. He is among the younger jazz musicians on this instrument.

He began on violin at 6 before moving to piano and then percussion. He became interested in vibraphone due in part to his grandfather. He later moved to New Orleans where he graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2003. In New Orleans he studied under Terence Blanchard. Later he moved to Los Angeles, California taking part of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz and at present lives in New York City. He also heads the "James Westfall Quintet" and "The Bionic Mvt."
