"I Won't Be Home for Christmas" is a holiday-themed song released by the pop-punk band Blink-182. The song originally appeared on the single for "Josie (Everything's Gonna Be Fine)" and was later released as a one-track promo in 1997. It was released in very little quantity. "I Won't Be Home for Christmas" was recorded with original drummer Scott Raynor. The song would later appear on various alternative Christmas albums including ', ', "A Santa Cause - It's a Punk Rock Christmas", and "Skankin' Up Xmas", and was finally released as a single in 2002 off of the album "MTV: TRL Christmas". Every December this song appears on the band's MySpace but is removed when Christmas is over.

The single charted at number 1 in Canada and it did not chart anywhere else in the world. It is the only Blink-182 single to ever chart in Canada. I Won't Be Home For Christmas is also the longest running number 1 single ever in Canada. It was number 1 for five weeks in 2001 and for one week in 2002.

Meaning

The song tells of a man who is fed up with Christmas and the various events that accompany it. As a result, he grows angry and violent, leading to a night in jail which stops him from being home for Christmas.
