Barkan Wine Cellars

Barkan Wine Cellars

Barkan Wine Cellars is Israel's 2nd largest producer of wine and owned by beer brewer and soft drinks producer Tempo Beer Industries Ltd.. The main wine brands are Barkan and Segal. The winery is located in Hulda, a kibbutz east of Tel Aviv.

In line with developments in the Israeli wine industry in recent years, the winery has undergone a significant transformation. With significant investment, a completely new facility has been built in Hulda. There is virtually no connection left to the village of Barkan as all production is now concentrated in the new winery in Hulda.

Barkan produces wine from a large number of grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc to name a few), but 2 wines stand out among its Israeli competitors. Firstly, Barkan is producing a Chardonnay created from grapes harvested from its vineyard in the Negev desert, probably one of the very few desert vineyards in the world. Secondly, Barkan pioneered the use of the grape Pinotage in Israel.
