June 5 ,1945 inStaunton, Virginia ) is lead singer and mainsongwriter of the legendary Americancountry music vocal group,The Statler Brothers .In the early 1960s, Reid replaced
Joe McDorman at lead vocals as the quartet that would go on to become the Statler Brothers changed their name from the "Four Star Quartet" to the "Kingsmen". Don's older brother Harold,Lew DeWitt , and McDorman formed the group in 1955 in Staunton while still school age.Reid has authored or co-authored three books since the group retirement in 2002 - "Heroes and Outlaws of the Bible", "Sunday Morning Memories", and "You'll Know It's Christmas When...". He is an elder in his local
