Melvin Rodríguez Rodríguez

Born December 27, 1989, in Ponce, but originally from Salinas, Puerto Rico, Melvin Rodriguez Rodriguez is a puertorican artist, actor and filmmaker.

Early life

Melvin Rodríguez was born to Melvin Rodríguez and Elba Rodríguez, both original from Salinas, PR. He has an older sister named Yanci. He currently resides in Salinas and is working in a Bachelor Degree in Communication and Journalism with a Minor Degree in Acting.

Career as an artist

Rodríguez started studying art in 2004, concentrating in painting. He studied with different puertorican artists. Currently he works in any subject but has put interest in religius imagery.

In 2006, upon the winning of Miss Universe by fellow salinense Zuleyka Riverahe painted "The New Star of the Universe" depicting Rivera's moment of triumph. The background also had fifty-five stars resembling all past Miss Universes. Five of these stars glow more because they represent the five Puerto Rican queens. Rodríguez gave the painting to Rivera as a gift on her homecoming to Parcelas Vázquez, Salinas, Puerto Rico. Rivera reacted emotionally hugging Rodríguez when she saw the painting.

Filmmaking

After enrolling in college Rodríguez took interest in filmmaking and enrolled in a five month workshop in the Film Foundation of Puerto Rico, located in Caguas. As part of the workshop Rodríguez worked as cinematographer for the short film Ya es mañana ("It's tomorrow" in English).

In 2008 Rodríguez completed the short film Medio Lleno Medio Vacío("Half Full Half Empty" in English). Currenlty he is in pre-production for the short film Dominick.
