Gilbert Kennedy of Dunure, 1st Lord Kennedy (b. circa 1406, d. after 6 March 1478/9) was a Scottish lord, a son of Sir James Kennedy of Dunure, the Younger, and Lady Mary Stewart, daughter of Robert III, King of the Scots.
Biography
Offices and titles
He held the office of Keeper of the Castle of Lochdoun, and the office of Constable of Stirling Castle, in 1466.
He was created 1st Lord Kennedy between 27 March 1457 and 20 March 1458.
In 1460, upon the death of King James II, he was one of the six Regents of Scotland.

He had two children either out of wedlock or by an unnamed wife:

He was married firstly to Catherine Maxwell, daughter of Herbert Maxwell, 1st Lord Maxwell, circa 1440. They had two children:
*Catherine Kennedy (b. before 1444)
*John Kennedy, 2nd Lord Kennedy (1454, d. bt 24 Jul 1508 – 13 May 1509)
Secondly, he married Isabel Ogilvy, daughter of Sir Walter Ogilvy of Lintrathen, after 1460.
