The town centre consists of a few cafés and a gift shop, as well as a general store, a fish and chips store, and an ice cream parlour.
It is approximately 6km south east of
Whitianga and 6km north ofHot Water Beach .There are two ways to reach the main town of Whitianga; either a 1 hour drive or a ferry ride some 15 minutes from Hahei by car.
