Tylex

Tylex

Tylex CD is a marketing name in the United Kingdom and several other countries for a formulation of analgesic medication combining paracetamol with the opioid codeine. It is usually stronger and more effective than the similarly formulated co-codamol (BAN).

In the United States and Canada Tylex is marketed under the name of Tylenol #1/2/3/4 (variants). In the US this is only available on prescription, however Tylenol 1 is available over-the-counter in Canada. It may also be referred to in the United Kingdom as Panadeine, an alternative marketing name.

Active Ingredients

Tylex 30 capsules contain codeine phosphate hemihydrate 30mg and paracetamol 500mg. Tylex 7,5 has the same basic formulation, except by the amount of codeine phosphate (7,5mg instead of 30mg) and it's indicated for the treatment of low to moderate levels of pain.

Some people have the tendency to become resistant to the narcotic/analgesic effects of Tylex and another medicaments that contain codeine phosphate.

Tylex capsules also contain sodium metabisulphate (E223), pregelatinised starch, calcium stearate, aerosol OT-B (dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate and sodium benzoate (E211).
