Grota Miresei

Grota Miresei

Grota Miresei (Bride's Cave) was a natural large hollow salt structure, containing a lake, located in Slănic, Prahova County, Romania. The structure has now collapsed due to water erosion.

The legend says that a beautiful girl from this place loved a poor shepherd. She was obliged by her parents to married with a rich boy. In the marriage day she disappeared. It was supposed that she self-dropped from the salt mountain into the lake - the Bride’s Cave. They found only her bride veil floating on the lake. The optimistic Slanic natives say that maybe they elope in world. Nowadays the place where she met the shepherd is called Shepherd’s Lake.
