Wanman

Wanman

nihongo|Wanman|ワンマン運転|Wanman untenmeans One-Man-Operated/OMO, it is the term used in Japan for driver-only operation (DOO) of trains and buses. "Wanman" trains are often designated by a green sign on the front of the train reading nihongo|"wanman"|ワンマン in white katakana. The term "wanman" is the katakana transcription of "one man". DOO trains and buses are operated by a single person, hence the term "one man".

On rural lines where stations are unmanned, "wanman" trains also feature bus-style fare indicator boards and fare collection machines next to the driver's cab.
