"The Parent Trap II" is a made-for-TV sequel to "The Parent Trap" that first screened on ABC's "Disney's Sunday Movie" in 1986 and was later released on Disney DVD on a special edition of the original "Parent Trap" movie.

Plot

Sharon Ferris is a divorced working mother living in Tampa with her only daughter, Nikki. When work requires the two to move to New York City, Nikki does everything in her power to stop her. Nikki eventually meets a friend, Mary, in her summer school English class, whose widowed father, Bill, is a single playboy. Mary and Nikki hatch a plan to get their parents together, so Nikki won't have to move and Mary will have a mother. Nikki even involves her mother's twin sister, Susan, in the plot and on one occasion stands in for Sharon on a date with Bill. Sharon soon discovers the plot and brings Susan's husband, Brian, a pilot for TWA; into the mix. Eventually the entire situation is settled, but Bill and Sharon still aren't much of a couple. Mary and Nikki lure the two to a yacht and untie it, while Bill and Sharon are in the cabin and oblivious to what happened. Eventually on the seas, they find themselves alone and discover their love for each other. The film ends with the marriage of Bill and Sharon.
