Sanskrit : कर्कोटक) was a naga king, who bitNala at the request ofIndra , transforming Nala into a twisted and ugly shape. Karkotaka had deceivedNarada who cursed him due to which he could not move a step. Karkotaka was friend of Nala and suggested Nala to go toRituparna , king ofAyodhya and stay there under a changed nameBahuka .The group of people developed their
Vamsha according to their system of worship of Devas and Nāgas. The worshippers ofShesha Naga were known asSheshama and worshippers ofKarka Naga were known as Karkotaka. Thus Karkotaka was aNagavanshi king. The descendants of Karkotaka are still found inJats of Rajasthan asKatewa clan .ee also
