Alloyant

Alloyant is a substance that facilitates mixture of two or more elements into a solid solution creating an alloy. In an alloy at least one of the elements is a metal and the alloyant may or may not be a metal. The alloyant maintains the necessary environment for the composite elements to blend. In some cases the prevalent element is considered the alloyant, for example in bronze copper is the prevalent alloyant and tin is the additive.
