Site of Special Scientific Interest in thecivil parish ofWoolhampton in the English county ofBerkshire . The site was officially notified in 1985.The site is adjacent to the
River Kennet and consists of densereed bed with smaller areas of tallfen vegetation and carr woodland. It is notable for its nestingpasserine bird populations and for the diversity of insects it supports, which include several uncommon species includingReed Warbler ("Acrocephalus scirpaceus"), a species which in Britain nests almost exclusively in this habitat.
