Eftal

Eftal is an arabic word that is recorded to mean 'better than the best', or simply, 'better'. There have been several historic figures in various middle-eastern kingdoms named Eftal.

Eftal is currently - albeit rarely - used in naming girls and boys in Turkey, a country where both arabic names and names that come from the turkic language roots are used.

There are some rumors that the name comes from a mermaid legend. This is clearly wrong, as there are historical figures that existed before even mermaids were thought of.

Eftal is also the name of a fictional kingdom in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
