Patrick Seale

Patrick Seale is a British journalist, author, and consultant who specialises in the Middle East . He is a former correspondent for "The Observer", and has interviewed many of the Middle East's most prominent leaders and personalities.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to Christian missionary and Orientalist Morris Seale, Patrick Seale was educated at Balliol College, Oxford, and read Middle East history at St Antony's College, Oxford. He has been honored by Oxford University with a doctorate (D. Litt) and was a Senior Associate Member of St. Antony’s College. His journalistic experience includes six years with Reuters, mainly as a financial journalist and over twelve with "The Observer" (London). He has covered the Middle East, Africa and India.

Seale, who is based in France, is a syndicated columnist for several newspapers, including Al-Hayat (London), Al-Ittihad (Abu Dhabi). The Daily Star (Beirut), The Saudi Gazette (Jiddah) and Gulf News (Dubai). He is the author of "The Struggle for Syria" (1965; new ed. 1986), "French Revolution 1968" (1968), "Philby, the Long Road to Moscow" (1973), "The Hilton Assignment" (1973), "Asad of Syria: The Struggle for the Middle East" (1988) and "Abu Nidal: A Gun for Hire" (1992). He also ghost-wrote "Desert Warrior', the 1995 Gulf War memoirs of Saudi prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, who acts as Saudi Arabia's Assistant Defense Minister.
