Francis Gilles Poullain-Patterson (born
15 April 1977 ), better known as Frankie Poullain, was the bass player forrock band The Darkness . He was born inEdinburgh ,Scotland . He attendedThe Royal High School from 1992 to 1998 [The Royal High School] .Poullain was the only original Darkness member not from the
Lowestoft area. Before joining the Darkness, he worked as atour guide in theVenezuela n mountains.Poullain left the band on
23 May 2005 , citing "musical differences" as the reason. Frankie has disputed this version of events, claiming he was "frozen out" and forced to leave the band. He said he was "pushed in to corners of band practices". He was replaced byRichie Edwards , a formerguitar technician for the band. His departure caused quite a stir with the press, most notably in the "NME " magazine where he was reportedly regarded as their favourite member of the band.Frankie was most recognizable by his
