Lorenzo Zenteno (born March 10, 1985 in Fort Worth, Texas) is an American rapper of Mexican descent. He is best known by his stage name, Smoothvega, and his massive internet fan base. Zenteno is one of the most sought at, fastest rising superstars coming out of the entire south region.

Early career

Interested in rap from a young age, Zenteno began being in professional studios as early as 13. In 2000, he began recording professionally and later went on to release his first underground EP entitled "Da World Ain't Ready" (of which he only sold 250 copies) in 2002. Frustrated with the negative feedback, a 17 year old Zenteno began working fast food to save up money to release his debut album "Unbreakable".

Since 2002, Zenteno has had one of the most successful independent music websites for any emerging artist. Shortly after releasing his EP in 2002, Zenteno launched the first version of www.smoothvega.com in October 2002. Despite little to no major promotion, www.smoothvega.com began taking off in popularity near the end of 2003 and became a monstrous success by 2004.

Unbreakable

In August 2004, Zenteno released his debut album "Unbreakable" which was ultimately the album that propelled him to rising superstar status. After releasing "Unbreakable", his fan base multiplied and was officially brought to life, slamming the notion that his success was only through the internet.

However, www.smoothvega.com did manage to garner a larger number of unique visitors after the release of "Unbreakable" and has become a huge success through digital distribution gaining the attention of many within the industry.

"Unbreakable" featured the fan favorite songs "King of The Hill", "Angelgurl", & "For What It's Worth".

The entire "Unbreakable" album was recorded by Zenteno at the age of 18, and was released by him independently at the age of 19.

3.10.85

Originally slated for a 2006 release, the long awaited forthcoming album "3.10.85" has been pushed back to an early 2007 release. The album is said to be a "whole new sound" and a complete 360 from "Unbreakable". The marketing slogan for the album is "The Game Done Stepped Up" and "The Separation" due to the extensive use of multiple rhyming and wordplay.

It is widely rumoured that "3.10.85" may be a major label release but nothing has been confirmed. However, on August 27, 2006, smoothvega announced via blog on his official MySpace page that "3.10.85" will be distributed nationwide furthering speculations that a major deal may be in the works.

The album will feature a highly buzz worthy collaboration with Hip-Hop Legend Chino XL.

On January 19, 2007, smoothvega released the highly anticapated track "Walk With Me" Featuring Chino XL via his official MySpace page. The track received rave reviews with fans and critics alike.

"3.10.85" is considered one of the most anticipated independent releases in 2008 and is set to feature guest appearances from Chino XL, Lil Flip, Crooked i, Royce Da 5'9 & Sinful (El Pecador Of Tha Mexakinz).

Awards

On July 9, 2006, Zenteno won the 2006 Fort Worth Weekly Award for "Best Rap/R&B Artist" a title that was previously held by TVT Records Recording Artist and fellow Fort Worth, Texas native Twisted Black.

On July 8, 2007, Zenteno won the 2007 Fort Worth Weekly Award for "Best Rap/R&B Artist" for second consecutive year (Becoming the first Latin Rapper to win the award back to back years) beating out the likes of TVT Records Recording Artist and fellow Fort Worth, Texas native Twisted Black who was also nominated for the same award.
