IAR Systems

IAR Systems is a Swedish computer technology company working in the area of embedded system development tools. IAR Systems was founded in 1983. From 2000 to 2005, IAR was listed on the Swedish stock exchange. In 2005, the Nocom group acquired IAR and took it off the stock market.

IAR Systems develops compilers, debuggers, and other tools to help develop and debug 8-,16-, and 32-bit processors. Traditionally, the company has been strong in the 8-bit market, but is moving into the expanding 32-bit market, especially the new market for cheap 32-bit microcontrollers.

IAR Systems operates in Germany, Japan, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Sweden, as well as from distributors all over the world. IAR Systems was acquired by the Nocom Group in 2005. The company is headquartered in Uppsala, Sweden.

Products

IAR Systems has developed numerous embedded development tools, which are as follows:
*IAR Embedded Workbench — a development environment that includes a C/C++ compiler and debugger that supports 30 different processor families.
*VisualSTATE — a design tool for developing event-driven state machine systems. It presents kind of a subset of UML StateCharts sufficient to do efficient code generation and some static checking. It is not a full UML editor.
*IAR KickStart Kit — a software and hardware evaluation environment.
*IAR Advanced Development Kit — a software suite containing all necessary programs for complete product development.
*IAR PowerPac — a real-time operating system (RTOS) combined with a high performance file system.
