Regions of Guyana

The South American Commonwealth of Guyana is divided into ten regions:

# Barima-Waini
# Pomeroon-Supenaam
# Essequibo Islands-West Demerara
# Demerara-Mahaica
# Mahaica-Berbice
# East Berbice-Corentyne
# Cuyuni-Mazaruni
# Potaro-Siparuni
# Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo
# Upper Demerara-Berbice

Each Region is administered by a Regional Democratic Council (RDC) which is headed by a Chairman. In addition there are a number of Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDC) within each Region. These operate at the local or village council level.

The regions are divided into 27 neighborhood councils.
