- Lesbi
Lesbi or Lesvi is a Roman Catholic
titular bishopric in the former Roman Catholic province ofMauretania Sitifensis ,suffragan ofSitifis , orSétif , in modernAlgeria . It is not, as is sometimes stated, theIsland of Lesbos , which never was a titular bishopric, but possesses two titular archbishoprics:Mytilene andMethymna . Of Lesbi we only know, from the "Itinerarium Antonini", that it was situated twenty-five miles fromTupusuctu or Tiklat, and eighteen miles fromHorrea Aninici , nowAin-Roua , south ofBéjaïa . The town, therefore, was on the Sava, i.e. the Oued-Bou-Sellam, but there are no remains to be seen. Two of its bishops are recorded: Romanus, aDonatist , present at the convention of Carthage, 411; Vadius, a Catholic exiled by theVandal King Huneric in 484.ource
