An incumbent advantage is an advantage gained by someone already in a position, as compared to newcomers. See:
*Incumbency advantage (politics), the advantage existing officeholders have in elections against challengers
*Competitive moat, the advantage companies already established in a market have over new entrants
*First-mover advantage, the advantage the first company into a market has over later entrants
