Cwmgors
Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen Community Centre

Cwmgors is a community in the South Wales Valleys connected to Gwaun-cae-Gurwen and Rhyd-y-Fro. It lies within the unitary authority of Neath Port Talbot and the ceremonial county of West Glamorgan. Its nearest postal town is Ammanford so addresses in Cwmgors will read as though the village were in the unitary authority of Carmarthenshire and the ceremonial county of Dyfed. It is represented on Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council by Welsh Labour's Cllr. Mrs. Lynda Williams, in Parliament by Peter Hain MP (Welsh Labour), and in the National Assembly for Wales by Gwenda Thomas AM (Welsh Labour for Neath), Bethan Jenkins AM (Plaid Cymru for South Wales West), Peter Black AM (Liberal Democrat for South Wales West), Byron Davies AM (Welsh Conservative for South Wales West) and Suzy Davies AM (Conservative for South Wales West).

Despite its rich industrial heritage, Cwmgors is not by any means as developed as Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen or Rhyd-y-Fro. It has a church (Llanfair), a school (Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Cwmgors) which feeds to Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera (for Welsh-medium education), Ysgol Uwchradd Dyffryn Aman (for Welsh- and English-medium education) and Cwmtawe Community School (for English-medium education), a Cantonese takeaway, and a pub.

Most of its residents are elderly, although it has seen slight growth in the number of younger residents of late, as well as more English migrants moving into the village and the surrounding area.
