Thoroughbred racehorse who earned Champion honors in his first three years of racing. Trained by Casey Hayes for ownerChristopher Chenery , at age two Hill Prince won six of the first seven races he entered and was voted U.S. Champion 2-year-old.At good as he was at two, at age three he was the dominant horse and earned Horse of the Year honors. Ridden by
Eddie Arcaro in theKentucky Derby , Hill Prince finished second toMiddleground , won thePreakness Stakes , then lost to Middleground again in theBelmont Stakes . Hill Prince would face Middleground in three other stakes races and win all three.Although his racing season at age 4 was cut short by injury, Hill Prince's performances were still good enough to be voted 1951's Handicap Horse of the Year. After racing at age 5, Hill Prince was retired to stud. He sired 23
graded stakes race winners and was the damsire of Hall of Fame horses,Shuvee andDark Mirage .In 1991 Hill Prince was inducted into the
National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame .References
