English and French monarchs overlap chart

English and French monarchs overlap chart

This chart shows which monarchs of England and France reigned at the same time. This chart was created to help understand the progression of relations between these kingdoms because of the long rivalry between them over the centuries. France has had no monarchs since 1870. Monarchs of Great Britain (1707-1801) and the United Kingdom (1801-present) are listed under England in this chart for simplicity. Very short overlaps may not be shown (such as in 1830, 1715 and 1559).
