T. Scott Muschany

T. Scott Muschany (born April 15, 1966) was elected in 2004 to represent the 87th District in the Missouri House of Representatives. Muschany lives in Frontenac just West of St. Louis City with his family.

Although his autobiography states that he is a fifth generation St. Louisan, this fact can not be substantiated through birth records, rather it appears that prior generations of his family and current family members are in fact from Illinois and outstate Missouri, not St. Louis. His autobiography also states that he is the founder of the TriLeaf company; however, Missouri Secretary of State filings suggest that this company was founded by Todd Prevette as Environmanagement Services in Iowa and Muschany effected a name change to TriLeaf.

On Tuesday, May 20, 2008, Muschany took his name off of the ballot for reelection to a third term. On August 6, 2008, Muschany was indicted by a Cole County grand jury for the alleged sexual assault on May 17, 2008, of a 14-year-old daughter of a woman with whom Muschany had an admitted 2 year long extramarital affair.(4)

After the Grand Jury indictment, both Governor Matt Blunt and Lt. Governor Peter Kinder called for Muschany's resignation from office. Muschany resigned from the Missouri House of Representatives on September 9, 2008.

Muschany was acquitted of all charges March 20, 2009, after a jury deliberated for four hours. "Standing naked next to a 14-year-old girl in bed is not a crime," defense lawyer Robert Haar told jurors who held the legal fate of Muschany in their hands. Muschany told police that he never knew the 14-year-old girl was at her mother's house, and that he ended up naked in the girl's room after following the mother through the house, thinking there might be a burglar.
