Founded in June of1945 by the Poles who had been forced to leave their homeland in present Western Ukraine, Piast's soccer team played for as many as 32 seasons in the Polish Second Division, however, it has never managed to qualify to theEkstraklasa until 2008. Twice (1978 ,1983 , Piast managed to reach finals of the Cup of Poland. Club's name comes from thePiast dynasty , that ruled Poland from its beginnings as an independent state in the 10th century, until 1370.General Information

SpVgg Vorwärts-Rasensport played their matches regularly in the stadium. The capacity of the stadium was around 15,000 in 1941. After the 1956 fusion of the three different clubs,GKS Gliwice was formed. Piast continued to play their matches on ul. Robotniczej. In 196, the 2 clubs merged together.
