Jay Schottenstein (born 1955) is an entrepreneur from
Columbus, Ohio .Biography
Jay is the son of
Jerome Schottenstein and Geraldine Hoffman. Jerome established Schottenstein Stores Corp. and was active especially in supporting Jewish charities. He served as board member of Yeshiva University. In 1976 Jay entered his dad's business. Later he married Jeanne, by whom he has 3 sons Joseph, Johnathon and Jeffrey. Serves since1980 as chairman ofAmerican Eagle Outfitters , Incorporated. In 1993 he replaced his father as head of Schottenstein Stores Corp (SSC), as well as at his charity activities. From 2005 he has served as chairman of DSW. In 2000, Jay sued Yahoo to have comments such as "My family built this company, and I'll run it any damn way I wish," written by someone posing as him removed from Yahoo's message board. While Retail ventures stock prices have plummetted, his compensation packages from the company have soared. He is one of the main contributors along with his family toSchottenstein Talmud edition . He is brother-in-law ofJon P. Diamond The Schottenstein family's once had an estimated wealth of $2 billion, coming mainly from Retail Ventures and American Eagle Outfitters, in which it owns a 26.5 % stake.
